Ok the mystery is now out of the box and hopefully subscribers are starting to get it in their mailbox! The primary technique is what I call "Crayon Applique". Both of the quilts featured in the magazine are playfully appliquéd with crayon work and then satin stitched to appear like more challenging quilt appliqué methods! and the winners of the My Quilt is a Cover Quilt Giveaway are........ Janet, Carol, Monica, Katy M and Jennifer E, Congratulations Ladies! You did not get the whole technique down but I totally admire your enthusiasm and therefore I am declaring you winners!!! This issue is all about summer fresh quilts, lettering, framing small quilts, Victoria's Quilts Canada and much, much more. What is really great about the magazine is that they also feature Canadian designers and share resources and information about Canadian quilters. The only place you can get patterns for Hot Summer Fun and Summer is Gardening is by purchasing the magazine! If you are not already a subscriber, I recommend you look into subscribing to this magazine here Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to Heather McArthur- Editor/Publisher and all her support Staff at Quilters Connection Magazine for the fantastic job they did in featuring quiltingintheloft.com's treasured quilt designs in such a creative and comprehensive way! Have a great Thursday! 😊

Just joining us and want to find out what the Hexagon Quilt Along is all about? See what it's all about here This is a vast departure from my blocks of late. I knew I needed to get outside of the same colour stash I was using, out of the same mind set and kick it up a notch. I am really learning with this hexagon block challenge about my colour weaknesses. So I raided my sisters stash once again, LOL. I think #23 is kind of a fresh approach with the black, red and white. Next week, who knows what colour combinations I will choose. Want to join in and purchase the book? Click on the image below: Have a great wednesday everyone 😊
A little while ago on this blog I talked about an upcoming pattern for sewing travel totes which I was working on. Well is is DONE, Yeah!! It is called "Sew N' Travel Totes" and available for shipping immediately! Sorry not a PDF pattern because there is a free embroidery appliqué included which I must ship to you. I am so excited because I think it's really an excellent pattern allowing you to pack up all your sewing tools, projects and supplies and take them with you on vacation this summer. There are 5 parts to the pattern itself:
It's tool and technique tuesday and totes are essential for sewing tools so it is appropriate to tell you all about my new pattern today! The pattern with all 4 totes, a pin cushion and a free embroidery appliqué is priced affordably at only $12.00. Sharing some close up pictures below of all the great components of this pattern: Included also are tips to work with vinyl, rick rack and easy zipper insertion! The fabric used to make the Sew N'Travel Totes? ... South Sea Imports, A Quilter's Home Fabric by Nancy's Cupboard. Please Note: There are limited numbers of the free embroidery appliqué so order it right away if you want this pattern, because once they are gone, the pattern will be sold without this appliqué. I realized that we are already upon June and I did not show all of the May blocks together so they are shown below-- I am clearly using too much blue! I make them in isolation and do not look at the previous one so you can see the colours I am drawn to!! Still some Blue in my newest one for May!
So my goal for next week: Stay away from Blue and branch out in different colours. We are such creatures of habit!
