Hi everyone, I have been overly busy this past few weeks (and months) with travelling, my garden, teaching, preparing for my daughters upcoming bridal shower and so many quilts to quilt on my long arm, so much so that I have fallen behind on my hexagon quilt along but I believe I am only behind a week or ....two. I promise to catch up as soon as I am able!! #33 Kerry is shown below: Below is a collage of my garden courtesy of Mallory Bogaert photography! Have a great Friday! TGIF 😛👍

Last night I was fortunate to attend the International Plowing Match Reception for the quilt show and ribbon cutting ceremony for events of the Plowing Match in Harriston, (Town of Minto) Ontario. This show is on NOW we had a sneak peak at the quilts in the show and of course I also saw the block challenge quilts (raffle quilts). They all are beautiful! So much talent in one room! See Details of the show below and try to attend it either today or Saturday! There are also great vendors for your quilt shopping pleasure. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony below and IPM Quilt Show Committee and IPM officials: Photo of the "First Prize" Raffle Quilt below (my block is the Sunflower- awarded 3rd prize): What I won below ( a pack of beautiful fabric compliments of Northcott Fabric and of course the lovely ribbon): Have a lovely day everyone, be sure to head to the quilt show today or Saturday (details above).
The drive through Harriston into Minto is spectacular trust me. Rolling hills and lovely pastoral countryside! Also. I will see you at the Plowing Match check the details about this here to take place September 20-24 in Harriston (Town of Minto). TGIF Have a great Friday! ❤️ Hi everyone, I apologize! Click on the book below where every week's block is coming from. I hope you have a great week and Happy Monday❤️Bring on the rain!☔️we need it!
Last week I asked my readers to guess where I was on my recent travels and my hint was "Missouri". Well the truth is... I was heading to the 85th Anniversary of Beta Sigma Phi (my sorority) in Kansas City, Missouri and along the way we made a pit stop at the most inspiring place! Why Missouri Quilt? Jenny Doan and her family developed this business as a result of her passion for quilting and a family business sense and have turned a small rural town into "Quilt Town USA" in Hamilton Missouri. Read all about it below: "Who Is Missouri Star Quilt Co?In November 2008, the kids got together and bought Mom a long-arm quilt machine so she could machine quilt for the local community. Back then, we had no idea that we had planted a seed that would grow so quickly. We opened a little shop where Mom and us worked. We roped in our friends, then Dad, in-laws, and... well now practically anyone who can use a rotary cutter in Hamilton, Missouri is involved! We are a family business that understands customer service and always strives to do the right thing for our customers, the people who make it possible for us to keep doing what we love." Also check out their website here they have revitalized (and taken over) the town of Hamilton Missouri! Some of you may be very familiar with Jenny Doan on You Tube and Missouri Star Quilt Company but I just wanted to share my experience. The shops take over 2 sides of the street with a few small restaurants and cafes and local amenities in between. More photos of the shops below: So the question remains..... what did I buy there? .....and last but not least, I purchased a mug to inspire me to make something new each day. and on the other side it says... I think this is advice I try to live by and now that I am back from holidays, I need to get back into.
That is after I finish helping my sister with her move and get 2 long arm quilts, quilted!! I hope you are having a great week and Make Something Today! I am away on vacation right now but love blogging about my quilting passion so much that I am posting about the most recent block Jacqui #31. So no excuses ladies, if I can do it, anyone can! Just a recommendation.....try to do a little quilting/sewing this summer and keep that passion for this art form alive, it's better than any therapy!! If you are interested in purchasing the book, click on the picture of the book below: I hope you are in air-conditioning and/or finding a way to stay cool! 🌴
Happy Thursday! ☀️ I know this is not quilting related, but I just wanted to share a useful tip to make pretty Rice Krispie treats with you. It just dresses these treats up a notch. This is easy and the kids/grandkids could help you. You could make them in any shape for any occasion. I used GF rice krispies but you could use the regular ones as well. I made these for my nieces bridal shower. Lay your rice krispies once they are made onto a shallow or jelly roll pan and use cookie cutters to cut out shapes. Dip one side in white chocolate or candy melts. Melt some other colours of candy melts or dark chocolate and swirl over the white while its still wet. You can use the corner of a zip lock bag for a piping tool (cut a very small hole) or use a piping tip. My nieces wedding colours are midnight blue and gold so the swirls are midnight blue and I sprinkled gold candy crystals on them. You could make these rainbow sprinkles and skip the piping and they would look great for the kids! Some cupcakes I also made below with candy melt hearts, gold and white sprinkles and pearls: A pretty spread of desserts! Next week, I will be blogging about my vacation in the US, some quilting related, some not ----can you guess where I am??? Hint: Missouri
I hope you have a great Wednesday!☀️ It's gonna be a hot one☀️ |
