Quilts # 23 & 24 for 2023 are two identical fish quilts quilted on my Q20 Long Arm Machine with custom wavy lines and spiral lines to depict motion in the ocean! They were fun to complete for my lovely customer Sue who also brought me a Timmies coffee when she picked them up and it was just the day I needed the caffein. Much appreciated Thank You Sue and thanks also for the continued business and quilts you bring to me. I appreciate all my customers of course, 😋

TONIGHT, I'm the guest presenter for Paul Léger Quilts ( A fellow BERNINA Brand Ambassador & Friend) . I'll be discussing "Tips To Sew with Vinyl and a DIY Project Bag". The above BERNINA Sewing Machine Presser feet will be discussed and just how great they are!
Paul is the host and he will give over the reigns to me to present. If you would like an invitation to this zoom even at 7 pm tonight. Please use the contact tab above and give me your email to join in 7-8 max so not a big time commitment. I think everyone will learn something new and I'll share some project ideas. Hope to see you there! ❤️ We all don't just quilt on quilts, sometimes it's as small as a coaster, pot holder, placemat, table runner, bag , quilt etc. The sky is the limit really. The quilt shown below is intended to be an on the floor play mat where the diagonal dark grey and light grey areas are roads and the green in organic areas, grass, forest etc. The grey areas were custom quilted by me on my BERNINA Q20 Long Arm Machine and quilted with straight lines as walkways & roads. The green with grass & leaves. My customer who pieced this quilt intends on adding appliqués of houses and other neighbourhood buildings. It's going to make an awesome play mat for a lucky baby girl! Showing & sharing once again, realize the potential of your machine, whatever it may be! Enjoy this beautiful fall day!🍁 My new blog post on the BERNINA International is up and the link is here If you want to learn about your Bernina Machine, check out the post in click on the Links for Free Learning Resources. This quilted wall hanging ( Quilt # 19 for 2024 for me) is approximately 56 x 56" square & is a quilt that I taught as a private lesson to a small group over about 8 months. I call mine Mardi Gras Lone Star because it's so colourful! Lessons learned: 60 degree angle strip piecing, Y-seams, curved piecing, english paper piecing and a unique border layout. It was fun & my little group did a fantastic job on theirs too! I ended up ruler quilting it for the most part with some free motion quilting.
This week I was teaching at BERNINA Canada in Whitby Ontario for Sept 20 & 21. My topic "Learn Your Long Arm", discussing the operation of the Q24, Q20 & Q16 BERNINA Long Arm Machines. This involved may subtopics about these incredible machines, including maintenance, software, mechanical knowledge and a whole host of creative possibilities. My sister (Alison) & I made 15 gorgeous tote bags with Benartex Fabric as gifts to this inaugural class & door prizes for all. We also had some awesome sponsors including: BERNINA Canada, www.sillymonquiltingco.ca (rulers), Uh Oh Creations Patterns, HA Kidd (Unique Quilting Notions), Alison Lumb Sewing Studio, www.quiltingintheloft.com, Schmetz Needles,, Benartex Fabric, Northcott Fabric, Sew Tite Magnets, Madeira Thread & Creekbank Sewing Shop (Mountforest). In addition, Kawartha Quilting & Sewing offered to do a last minute pop up shop!. A total of 12 participants (dealers & consumers) from all over Ontario, Quebec & BC attended the first 2 days . This was an awesome event with great participation, questions from the audience, lot's of camaraderie & laughter. We finished off day 2 with a rapid fire thread painting session where we tested out 10 very willing students & a Q Frame & Q Sit Down Model machines. Team Frame vs Team Sit Down. The laughter & competitive spirit that ensued was contagious to put it mildly. On Sept 22, Adrienne Gallagher BERNINA Educator taught a fantastic Q Matic Class with about 7 participants in attendance. Lot's to learn & again more fun to imagine all of the possibilities of this amazing computer equipment. Deb Yew also a BERNINA Educator was essential to coordinating this with me over many months, she took a real leap of faith and then was there to help me & participants throughout the whole event. Deb you are the best! 😊 I have already gotten lots of positive feedback so I am hoping to present this class & format again soon, stay tuned. If you are a shop owner & you need a class like this, please feel free to contact me via my contact tab above. I will also be sure to post about upcoming teaching events on this blog. Thanks so much again to BERNINA Canada, Adrienne, Deb, Jay Trudy & Andrew , all of our awesome sponsors, my sister Alison for all of her help (our timer, bell ringer & sewist extraordinaire!). A big thank you to all of the wonderful participants who took their valuable time to attend. I sincerely hope you are inspired. I know I was inspired by your energy, brand loyalty, questions & ideas so THANKS VERY MUCH! Enjoy the videos & images below: Rapid Fire Thread Painting Videos Karon Team Frame & Bizz Team Table Below: and the winner is......
