This quilted wall hanging ( Quilt # 19 for 2024 for me) is approximately 56 x 56" square & is a quilt that I taught as a private lesson to a small group over about 8 months. I call mine Mardi Gras Lone Star because it's so colourful! Lessons learned: 60 degree angle strip piecing, Y-seams, curved piecing, english paper piecing and a unique border layout. It was fun & my little group did a fantastic job on theirs too! I ended up ruler quilting it for the most part with some free motion quilting.

I just completed my virtual crayon appliqué class today with Mississauga Quilters Guild. I showed them a BONUS Trapunto technique so that they can make it 2 dimensional and more like an appliquéd motif. It was so much fun, I want to do more crayon appliqué & teaching of this method. They were a great group, we had lots of great conversation and I'm sure they found the technique easy & hopefully fun! If you are interested in getting a group together to take this class, please feel free to contact me. Scroll down to see the class description here. Photos of the virtual class are shown below. l had an awesome full classroom yesterday with "Explore Thread Painting". This class was held at Creekbank Sewing in Mount Forest. This is a beginner thread painting class where we thread painted an appliquéd sunflower on woodgrain fabric making a gorgeous art quilt. In this class, I showed participants how to machine appliqué the easy way. Threads, needles and appropriate machine techniques were discussed. This is a beginner thread painting project and after completion of this class students will be able to add thread painted motifs to their own quilted projects or make artistic home decor and expand on this technique. Special Thanks to all who attended the class! You were wonderful! Also as shown below, fabulous work!❤️ I hope to see more of your thread painted work in the future! Check out some images of participants in action below: If you have a group interested in a class, contact me here ...or call Creekbank Sewing in Mount Forest, Ontario to schedule a class: 519-323-2693
Enjoy your Wednesday! In case any of my followers want to know what's going on behind the scenes when there is radio silence from me. Trust me nothing is ever silent in my world! I believe life is for living & pursuing passions. Therefore behind the scenes there is always a behive of creative activity! Just a few minutes ago at 630am I was responding to Bernina Blog comments. Last evening I was working on my Bernina Q20 & a customer quilt. I was also prepping for a Thread Painting Class at Creekbank Sewing this Tuesday and reviewing my new Crumb Pieced Star In a Star Pattern (soon to be available on my website). So yes radio silence is non existent! Some photos of the "Behive" are shown below Oh yes & I forgot to mention, I have a mini tutorial to prep for monday with my tiny sewing group. We are making chicken mittens. Oh darn, I have a demo Monday night I better get on it. But that's after I take in the St Jacobs Market today! Have a great weekend everyone. Stay warm, it's starting to feel like fall! brrr🍁
After a busy summer, I was finally able to complete my Crumb Pieced Star in a Star quilt sample for my newest class. Such a great process to revisit some gorgeous fabric, make new fabric, reuse, recycle, sustainable type scrappy quilting with an organized vision. My kind of scrappy! It's heavily quilted and quilting suggestions are discussed in this class. If you are interested in a class and have a group of 10 or more people, feel free to get in touch to organize a class with me. The math is done for a 18 x 18", 27 x 27" or 55 x 55" quilt. Get in touch with me here & check out my teaching page to see other samples for this class, scroll down to see photos. The pattern in now available on my shop page!
