I held another small Quiltingintheloft Studio class recently where we worked on the Enclosed Zipper Bag and ended up learning how to attach a zipper bag into the lining of the actual bag. This created 3 interior pockets. It also included using a lobster claw as a unique closing fixture. I quilted my fabric up on the BERNINA 790 PRO. You can use the ZIPPER FOOT #4/4D designed to stitch next to zipper coils, this foot requires the use of a far right or far left needle position. There is no problem at all going through thickness of fabric with this machine. It handles it all smoothy. Some pictures to date from the finished bags from the day long workshop are below:

Whew ! Do I have a story for you. I wanted to use the Creative Grids Pineapple Mini Ruler for a class to teach the Pineapple Sizzle Tote with my smaller private class at Quiltingintheloft Studio. I though I did not have the ruler and so I ordered it from a mega site ( I think you may know this site). Turned out I got a very bad knock off and waisted time and money.
Moral of the story, order direct from the source or from a reputable local quilt shop! Boy did I learn a lesson. Turned out as well, that I already had this ruler lol. I demoed on my BERNINA 790 PRO and it went through the fabric thickness & strapping like the "PRO" it is! It was a technique class to learn/teach how to use the pineapple ruler and using the Cut Loose Press Pineapple Sizzle Tote Pattern, The student projects to date turned out great. See below: On Feb 27, 2024 I taught my Mosaic Landscapes class at Creekbank Sewing in Mount Forest, Ontario. This is based on Gloria Loughman's book "Radiant Landscapes" . I had an awesome time Saturday teaching at Triangle Sewing in Guelph a Landscape Mini Quilt Class, the technique was hand appliqué . It was a great class to play, touch and ooh and awe over landscape fabrics and learn how to appliqué in such a way that the stitches are invisible. We all had lots of fun, participants seemed to love the potential of this skill and fabric & said they would make more of these. Thanks to all 4 ladies who participated Wendy, Mary, Kirsten and Emily you made the start of my teaching year for 2024 fun! Below are some photos of the classroom, student projects, the students and my class samples. The one with the grey frame was demonstrated in class. If you are interested in one of my future classes take a look at my teaching page here or contact me about Trunk Shows or Classes here Have an amazing week!😊❄️ Stay Warm and Well

Class sample is shown below: Quilt #20 for 2023 is my Autumnal Sunflower Quilt. I designed this to practise Ruler Work and Free Motion Quilting as a class sample. I'm teaching this class at Creekbank Sewing in Mount Forest Ontario.
If you want to brush up on your ruler work or free motion quilting skills, please call the store. If you are interested in a class or a kit of all of the fabric & the pattern. Their number is 519-323-2693. Just want the pattern? Get it here. Any easily pieced quilt, great for practising. It would also be a great centre starting point for a larger quilt. It measures 48 x 48" when finished. Sunflowers follow the sun and remind us of the beauty of harvest time ☀️🌽🍁 This quilted wall hanging ( Quilt # 19 for 2024 for me) is approximately 56 x 56" square & is a quilt that I taught as a private lesson to a small group over about 8 months. I call mine Mardi Gras Lone Star because it's so colourful! Lessons learned: 60 degree angle strip piecing, Y-seams, curved piecing, english paper piecing and a unique border layout. It was fun & my little group did a fantastic job on theirs too! I ended up ruler quilting it for the most part with some free motion quilting.
