For any of you who have been following along, I have put myself and a few other of my blog followers on a journey in 2016 to work on 52 weeks worth of hexagon blocks and I just photographed all of mine to get inspired as to a layout.  I am not sure what I want to do, but I am sharing a picture with you  below and any suggestions are welcome. Please comment below, I need suggestions for layout, colours for connecter fabrics and borders.

I could lay them out as they are above with grey triangles or white triangles to connect and applique it to a grey or white background (to create the borders or.......  Suggestions are welcome!

So the layout above is basically this

I could also simply do this

or this

or be more elaborate and make a larger quilt?

A simple addition

I am thinking the connecting fabric needs to be a neutral and not so busy as to show off all my colourful and handpieced hexagons. What do you think?

Stay tuned and/or help me decide please!

Have a great Wednesday! ⛄️

I am so happy to say the last of 52 blocks (one for every week of 2016) is complete! Yeah, some perserverance was needed, especially during the summer holiday months, but I am happy and proud to say all are completed!

The book is shown below and it was excellent with instructions and templates to make all 52 blocks.  Now I will work on the "setting"pieces and may post some progress reports on that in the upcoming months.

If you want to try to challenge yourself this year, I recommend the book below.  Click on the book to see where to purchase it, on sale for 20% off!

If anyone has been following along and has met the challenge requirements  to win the free GIVEAWAY posted here in January of 2016 , please send in the photos of your completed blocks asap!

This block was actually the first of 52 that I have completed in 2016 because I love that star in the center!  It was the one that inspired me to do others and keep on keepin' on with all the blocks.  It holds a special place in my heart!

If you are interested in our Hexagon Quilt Along series check out the book below,  complete one block for every week of the year and this could be a   New Years Resolution for you in 2017!

Block # 48 - Jeannie
Jeannie looks totally different than the one in the book THE NEW HEXAGON!

I think it kind of looks like a "star flower".  If you are interested in the book click on the image below:

The count down has begun and it is time to decide on settings for these hexies now with 45 completed blocks.  I am going to have to start working on the connector pieces very soon.

The book below also has a great gallery of projects and layout suggestions.  So if you are working on the blocks I recommend you also look at pages 16-18 to see layout suggestions.

Again I am working with the bright colours.  It's funny how with fabric a trend in colour continues once you start working on something!  8 more to go until the end of 2016!!

If you want to try your hand at EPP (English Paper Piecing) click on the book below.

Niki and Betty are bright and beautiful ladies, I had to dig deeper into my stash of scraps :)

I have 10 more to go!   ( #50 was completed earlier in the year because I liked it ).  Now with Halloween complete, the count down to 2016 has begun
(at least in my eyes!).

I'm sure the next 10 will work up fast and then the consideration of setting pieces, hmmmmm.....

It has been a joy to complete 1-2 of these blocks for week for the past months and I am so happy that I gave myself this challenge for 2016.  It means while watching episodes of "The Voice" on TV, I have been productive.

If you would like to see what the Hexagon Quilt Along is all about, click on the book to see where you can purchase it yourself.
