Quilt #20 for 2023 is my Autumnal Sunflower Quilt. I designed this to practise Ruler Work and Free Motion Quilting as a class sample. I'm teaching this class at Creekbank Sewing in Mount Forest Ontario.
If you want to brush up on your ruler work or free motion quilting skills, please call the store.
If you are interested in a class or a kit of all of the fabric & the pattern. Their number is 519-323-2693.
Just want the pattern? Get it here. Any easily pieced quilt, great for practising. It would also be a great centre starting point for a larger quilt. It measures 48 x 48" when finished.
Sunflowers follow the sun and remind us of the beauty of harvest time ☀️🌽🍁
My blog post about Twin Needle Ruler Quilting that I demo'd at Quilt Canada is posted on the Bernina Blog here. Have a read and let me know what you think. You could also try this technique on a domestic (home) sewing machine. It was so much fun! Give me some feedback, I would love to hear if you think you'll try it and what you think about this as a creative option for quilting. FYI this is also Quilt #13 on my BERNINA Q20 Longarm Machine!
My blog article for Bernina is up on the International Website effective today! Have a look at it here
If you're new to rulerwork or wanting to get into it with your Bernina Machine or..... thinking about a new machine for rulerwork/quilting & sewing, I highly recommend you read this post! There is also a YouTube video attached to this post showing you how I use the Amanda Murphy Hexi 1 template to make a centered design! Have a look. Only 13 minutes of your time. My new pattern Interlocked is available now in my shop page. The reason I designed this quilt was 5 fold.... 1. I wanted to practise with my new Bernina Q20 Long Arm, 2. I wanted a sampler style quilt to try out my Amanda Murphy Good Measure Rulers, 3. I am demonstrating at Creekbank Sewing Center's Long Arm Convention today June 9th and tomorrow June 10th and needed a demo sample , 4. It's so much fun to design and play with fantastic sewing resources and 5. I hope quilters will be inspired to try a pattern that allows them some space to show off their quilting, be it by hand or machine !
About the pattern Interlocked:
This pattern makes a 48” x 48” quilt, perfect for a baby, crib quilt, wall quilt, play mat or a lovely lap quilt. It’s also a great size to practise free motion quilting or ruler work on both domestic & long arm quilting machines. The piecing is simple & the interlocked design is dynamic. Make it modern with fabric & quilting designs or make it traditional, the choice is yours to make. Featured at Creekbank Sewing Center, Mount Forest “Long Arm Convention”.
You can purchase the pattern for download here or if you want to attend the Longarm Convention tomorrow, please call Creekbank Sewing at 519-323-2693. *Note it's for all quilters not just for long armers as the demos , info & mini trunk shows x 2 (Sharon Fisher & myself) relate to all quilters*
