Quilt #20 for 2023 is my Autumnal Sunflower Quilt. I designed this to practise Ruler Work and Free Motion Quilting as a class sample. I'm teaching this class at Creekbank Sewing in Mount Forest Ontario.
If you want to brush up on your ruler work or free motion quilting skills, please call the store. If you are interested in a class or a kit of all of the fabric & the pattern. Their number is 519-323-2693. Just want the pattern? Get it here. Any easily pieced quilt, great for practising. It would also be a great centre starting point for a larger quilt. It measures 48 x 48" when finished. Sunflowers follow the sun and remind us of the beauty of harvest time ☀️🌽🍁

This quilted wall hanging ( Quilt # 19 for 2024 for me) is approximately 56 x 56" square & is a quilt that I taught as a private lesson to a small group over about 8 months. I call mine Mardi Gras Lone Star because it's so colourful! Lessons learned: 60 degree angle strip piecing, Y-seams, curved piecing, english paper piecing and a unique border layout. It was fun & my little group did a fantastic job on theirs too! I ended up ruler quilting it for the most part with some free motion quilting.
Today I'm relaxing & putting away my "stuff" after teaching & showing a mini trunk show at a very successful "Long Arm Convention" at Creekbank Sewing in Mount Forest Ontario- June 9 &10. Below is a "selfie" of my sister Alison & myself at the Convention. Lot's of great participants, wonderful staff & customers were treated to two days of jamm packed information including Sharon Fisher's Demo on Q'matics (Bernina Computerized Machine Quilting) & her trunk show of Q Matic designs on gorgeous quilts. Sharon also discussed thread & batting choices. Vernon (owner of Creekbank) discussed info on needles, technical & thread info.. I was responsible for teaching ruler work on the Q20 with studio frame and to show my mini trunk show of quilts. I was demoing on my new pattern "Interlocked" It is now available for purchase (along with fabric kits) at Creekbank Sewing Mount Forest & on my shop page here. Oh & i got a wee bit of shopping done as well. I'll share a picture of that below : The day included a lovely lunch, refreshments & a loot bag of goodies. The staff at Creekbank clearly worked hard to put this together with much appreciation ! A lot of work went into getting ready and lots of talking & demonstrating over 2 days but also lots of fun to see participants inspired & excited about upcoming projects. To all those who participated I personally want to Thank You for without you we would not have had such a great turnout and it would not have been possible to share all this info with everyone. Lots of class registrations took place which is excellent and its looking like we are going to enjoy a fun summer & fall going forward with full classes! Please call the store at 519-323-2693 if you are interested in any classes and/or want to get on their mailing list.
Hope you are enjoying a restful weekend ! 😊☀️ |
