We were selected by panelists at feedspot.com and this is one of the most comprehensive lists' of Top 100 Quilting Blogs on the internet and I’m honoured to be a part of it. I'm at #89 out of 100 at the present time and plan on improving! I believe it's also based on Twitter and Facebook followers and social metrics etc but no matter! What matters most is that my hard work is paying off and hopefully that also means I am inspiring quilters and sewists!
Happy Thursday Everyone, stay warm!

I'm still keeping up with my promise to do 2 blocks per week in order to keep up! 12 left to go! I also tried to make these blocks very different from the previous ones but having difficulty avoiding blue and purple because they are my favourite colours :) This is from Katja Marek's wonderful book "The New Hexagon". If you wish to join us and purchase the book, click on the image below: Have a great Wednesday 😊
You can make this baby in 4 hours tops! This was my Sunday project to get me into the spirit of Halloween!
I used a 60 degree ruler and it was a great time to revisit the use of this wonderful ruler which is really very versatile! What you will need:
Want to get the ruler? You can get it by clicking on the link below:
How to make it:
2. Cut 3 with the narrowest point white (this is what candy corn looks like). You can cut alternate triangles and use them on another project with narrowest tip yellow (to save on fabric). Scroll down to see what I did with alternate triangles
3. Mark and cut the corners of each candy corn to round them.
All 3 candy corn should look like this once trimmed in the corners:
4. Using fusible web or fabric glue, adhere your candy corn to the black backing fabric. Use a small zig zag and invisible thread to sew the edges down and appliqué the candy corns to your background. Tip: use a stabilizer adhered to the wrong side of the background to avoid puckers when using the zig zag stitch
5. Lay your batting down on a hard surface and then your backing right side facing you placed on top of the batting. Place your table runner top, right side down onto the right side of the backing fabric (you have your quilt sandwich now). Pin through all layers on the edge and sew 1/4" from the edge all around the table runner. *Leave a 3" gap for turning*
6. Clip all 4 corners and turn your project to the right side. Press to turn your gap edges in evenly and hand sew your gap closed.
7. Quilt 1/4-1/2" from the edge all the way around on the top and free motion quilt around the candy corn and fairly densely in the background so that your table runner lays flat.
Your project is complete! Enjoy!!
An alternate project is below (think about this in different colours too!)
Do I have you thinking? I sure hope so!
I hope you have a Happy Halloween! I fell behind getting these little hexies done, so now I am doing them in two's. Only 15 more blocks left, but only 11 weeks to finish off the year! The challenge is on!! I cannot wait to see everyones blocks, I hope y'all are working on them :) The book where these block patterns originate is shown below, if you would like to purchase it click here or on the picture below: Have a great Wednesday!
There is a FREE PDF download of this pattern in the SHOP section of this website to get this free download please click here Basically you cut out scraps of red and green felt, blanket stitch appliqué the tomato, strawberry and leaf designs to the top of a 5.5 x 5.5 square of felt, add a vine, sew the front to the back right sides together, stuff and stitch closed. So easy, cute, whimsical and useful. I hope you are able to try this easy tutorial, you can download it for FREE here
Enjoy this one hour project! Happy Tuesday! This is an easy recipe to bake chicken legs or thighs and makes them moist, flavourful and delicious! Only 4 ingredients! You will need:
Mix the 3 above ingredients together and pour oven chicken in a baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about one hour or until chicken is done. The easiest recipe ever and so delicious! Note: This can recipe can also be cut in 1/2 if you have less chicken to cook. Enjoy & Happy Sunday!🍁 I'm officially moved in and somewhat organized (about 90%) and my first quilt since moving into the loft is on the machine, it is one for my own bed at last!
While in the process of moving I had the opportunity to touch all of my stuff again and organize it. I was able to get some stuff ready to donate, throw some stuff out, label things properly and "stroke" my beautiful fabric once again!! It was a serious hoard, but now I think it's just where I want it to be and everything has a place. I still have some painting and decorating to do, drapes to make, some lighting to install and a cutting and ironing table to set up. I will try to blog about these little projects as I am able to get to them. Just maybe they will help you organize your sewing/quilting space? Happy Thursday everyone 😊

I'm sorry, I did not get photos from the trunk show and the class in Barrie, however I will show you others that I have below. What am I teaching? Free Motion Quilting and Thread Painting (beginner and advanced). Check out the picture below: Thread Painting Is: So much fun, a great way to use up the beautiful thread you have been collecting, a fantastic way to embellish your quilts easily, empowering because you are painting with your sewing machine needle as the paint brush, creative, allowing you can make one of a kind art work, easy and a great skill to learn!! The ladies (of the Windsor Quilters' Guild) at my recent workshop in Windsor were so much fun to be with, enthusiastic and positive about learning to thread paint. See the picture below: Some more pictures of their work in progress: If your guild or sewing group wants to learn this technique, please go to "more" on my menu above (click on teaching) or click here
I hope to see some of their finished work in the near future and promised them I would post it if they send me photos 😊 Thanks to the ladies of the Windsor Quilters Guild for participating in the workshop, you were all wonderful and I sincerely and thoroughly enjoyed sharing my thread painting technique with you!❤️ Hi everyone, I really hope you have had or are having a wonderful time with family this Canadian Thanksgiving! I just had to share the recipe below with you because it's easy and great to make ahead for other special occasions coming up. I made these for a recent event and people were asking me for the recipe, so this is tried and true cookie recipe! This cookie recipe is called: Ice Box Sugar Gem Sandwiches aka: really great vanilla sugar cookies that can be made ahead, rolled, placed in the freezer and baked on a baking day. They do not have to be sandwiched. I chose to make them sandwiched with home made peach jam in the centre and dressed them up with a sprinkle of icing sugar just to make them a little more special than they already are! INGREDIENTS:
HOW TO MAKE THEM:
You can also roll the cookie rolls in cinnamon and sugar for a nice cinnamon sugar cookie prior to cutting, mmmmmmmm Happy Turkey Day! 🐓🍗
