Quilts # 15 & 16 for 2023 are customer long arm quilts # 15 is a gorgeous multi colour/patch quilt that was quilted with "Modernish" pantograph and #16 was a baby quilt for Benjamin quilted with a teddy bear pantograph that I was enthusiastic about trying out. These are not my quilts, I provided the long arm quilting service on them. Just showing & sharing, enjoy! 😊
My sister & I attended Quilt Canada in Halifax in early June and had a wonderful time helping out at the BERNINA Canada booth & visiting the vendor mall and of course seeing the quilt show. Quilt Canada in Halifax this year had a challenge quilt for charity sponsored by Trend Tex Fabrics and the Theme was "Making Waves". I purchased the fabric kit & the theme came to me in the form of my middle grandson Jude saying to me as I walked through their bathroom door whilst they were making a mess "Grammie we are making waves". My artist statement read: The most important job of all we have is to raise happy, healthy and well adjusted children. My three grandsons reminded me of the theme when they exclaimed "Grammie We're Making Waves" as I came into the bathroom. Their unique exuberance and joy gives me hope that they will be the effective wave makers of the future and excellent citizens. Some additional details shown below are : the quilt label, iridescent sequins added to depict water, a mini quilt on the wall, free motion quilting/thread painted comic versions of my grandsons (yes my oldest Eli was wearing a scuba snorkel!), appliquéd fabrics & satin stitching. This little quilt measured about 20 x 20". Although this little quilt was not a winning challenge quilt, I felt the concept was very original, it followed all of the rules, it made money for charity and it garnered several bids ( I bided/bought it back to myself because of the personal nature of it). Oh yes and the giggles my sister & I shared while trying to bid it back. I consider this a win! It now resides in my daughters bathroom.😊🌊
A surprise just came to me in the mail from BERNINA Canada. It's a very nice back pack with lots of storage! This was a Thank You for helping out at Quilt Canada, which was a complete pleasure.
Thanks BERNINA Canada. You Rock!❤️ I'm so excited to work with Vinyl and to try out some great BERNINA Presser Feet. So impressed with # 51 the Roller Foot, #52 Zigzag Foot with Sliding Sole & #39 Open/Closed Embroidery Foot. Worked like a charm on my 2 part tutorial to make a Vinyl Project Bag. It's a free pattern & tutorial, check it out here and get sewing with vinyl, there so many possibilities.

Have a read and let me know what you think. You could also try this technique on a domestic (home) sewing machine. It was so much fun! Give me some feedback, I would love to hear if you think you'll try it and what you think about this as a creative option for quilting. FYI this is also Quilt #13 on my BERNINA Q20 Longarm Machine! Stay cool!☀️
While we were at Quilt Canada in Halifax, my sister and I purchased the Louie Waist Pack pattern from Uh Oh Creations and were fortunate to meet and spend time with Tara the designer of the pattern (also a fellow BERNINA Ambassador). Below is a picture of the finished Louie Waist Pack hot off our Bernina Presses LOL . My sister is a 770 owner and I used my teaching/go to class BERNINA 350. We had a fun day making this and it's a fantastic size for a summer cross body. I recommend to all to try her patterns if you are into bag making!
