Behind the scenes I am always working in my studio although the past few weeks I have been tied up with family responsibilities. My turn around time for custom quilting has taken a nose dive along with my blogging. My intention this week was to get back on track & therefore, I have started this week by working on my BERNINA Q20 Long Arm. I also have intentions this year of sharing most of what I am doing with the hope to inspire you by communicating via social media & blogging about it. Although, I have blogged frequently in the past, there is a lot of work that I do not share. Blogging for me is also a great way to keep track of my work.,much like a scrapbook. So with that intention written & communicated out in a public space, I hereby declare that I will share my work and will not be shy about even the most trivial of projects. I am also hereby declaring that all projects are valid and hopefully you will learn some tips from me? Let's see !! Below are recent finishes this to date: This first quilt design " Bauhaus" was requested by my customer as it is a gift for a man in her life, she thought it looked a little more masculine than some designs. I chose teal thread to blend with the top fabric & backing allowing the panel like scene fabrics to sing. The second pattern wildflowers was inspired by the floral patterns on the quilt, I also chose the gold thread to match the backing & blend on top of the quilt. I wanted that beautiful floral fabric to be the star of the show. There are many ways to think about quilting designs. Hopefully, this year I will be able to share more tips for choosing quilt designs.

In case any of my followers want to know what's going on behind the scenes when there is radio silence from me. Trust me nothing is ever silent in my world! I believe life is for living & pursuing passions. Therefore behind the scenes there is always a behive of creative activity! Just a few minutes ago at 630am I was responding to Bernina Blog comments. Last evening I was working on my Bernina Q20 & a customer quilt. I was also prepping for a Thread Painting Class at Creekbank Sewing this Tuesday and reviewing my new Crumb Pieced Star In a Star Pattern (soon to be available on my website). So yes radio silence is non existent! Some photos of the "Behive" are shown below Oh yes & I forgot to mention, I have a mini tutorial to prep for monday with my tiny sewing group. We are making chicken mittens. Oh darn, I have a demo Monday night I better get on it. But that's after I take in the St Jacobs Market today! Have a great weekend everyone. Stay warm, it's starting to feel like fall! brrr🍁
Hi everyone, I know by now the kidlets are heading back to school. I am embarking on a new adventure too! I am excited, honoured and thrilled to announce that I am officially a BERNINA Ambassador! Show me some love! Support a fellow Canadian 🇨🇦 Thanks also for your continued support and for following me always! Robin Today I'm relaxing & putting away my "stuff" after teaching & showing a mini trunk show at a very successful "Long Arm Convention" at Creekbank Sewing in Mount Forest Ontario- June 9 &10. Below is a "selfie" of my sister Alison & myself at the Convention. Lot's of great participants, wonderful staff & customers were treated to two days of jamm packed information including Sharon Fisher's Demo on Q'matics (Bernina Computerized Machine Quilting) & her trunk show of Q Matic designs on gorgeous quilts. Sharon also discussed thread & batting choices. Vernon (owner of Creekbank) discussed info on needles, technical & thread info.. I was responsible for teaching ruler work on the Q20 with studio frame and to show my mini trunk show of quilts. I was demoing on my new pattern "Interlocked" It is now available for purchase (along with fabric kits) at Creekbank Sewing Mount Forest & on my shop page here. Oh & i got a wee bit of shopping done as well. I'll share a picture of that below : The day included a lovely lunch, refreshments & a loot bag of goodies. The staff at Creekbank clearly worked hard to put this together with much appreciation ! A lot of work went into getting ready and lots of talking & demonstrating over 2 days but also lots of fun to see participants inspired & excited about upcoming projects. To all those who participated I personally want to Thank You for without you we would not have had such a great turnout and it would not have been possible to share all this info with everyone. Lots of class registrations took place which is excellent and its looking like we are going to enjoy a fun summer & fall going forward with full classes! Please call the store at 519-323-2693 if you are interested in any classes and/or want to get on their mailing list.
Hope you are enjoying a restful weekend ! 😊☀️ My new pattern Interlocked is available now in my shop page. The reason I designed this quilt was 5 fold.... 1. I wanted to practise with my new Bernina Q20 Long Arm, 2. I wanted a sampler style quilt to try out my Amanda Murphy Good Measure Rulers, 3. I am demonstrating at Creekbank Sewing Center's Long Arm Convention today June 9th and tomorrow June 10th and needed a demo sample , 4. It's so much fun to design and play with fantastic sewing resources and 5. I hope quilters will be inspired to try a pattern that allows them some space to show off their quilting, be it by hand or machine !
About the pattern Interlocked: This pattern makes a 48” x 48” quilt, perfect for a baby, crib quilt, wall quilt, play mat or a lovely lap quilt. It’s also a great size to practise free motion quilting or ruler work on both domestic & long arm quilting machines. The piecing is simple & the interlocked design is dynamic. Make it modern with fabric & quilting designs or make it traditional, the choice is yours to make. Featured at Creekbank Sewing Center, Mount Forest “Long Arm Convention”. You can purchase the pattern for download here or if you want to attend the Longarm Convention tomorrow, please call Creekbank Sewing at 519-323-2693. *Note it's for all quilters not just for long armers as the demos , info & mini trunk shows x 2 (Sharon Fisher & myself) relate to all quilters* Thanks for reading this post, Have a Happy Thursday!😊 |
