My blog post about Twin Needle Ruler Quilting that I demo'd at Quilt Canada is posted on the Bernina Blog here. Have a read and let me know what you think. You could also try this technique on a domestic (home) sewing machine. It was so much fun! Give me some feedback, I would love to hear if you think you'll try it and what you think about this as a creative option for quilting. FYI this is also Quilt #13 on my BERNINA Q20 Longarm Machine! Stay cool!☀️

While we were at Quilt Canada in Halifax, my sister and I purchased the Louie Waist Pack pattern from Uh Oh Creations and were fortunate to meet and spend time with Tara the designer of the pattern (also a fellow BERNINA Ambassador). Below is a picture of the finished Louie Waist Pack hot off our Bernina Presses LOL . My sister is a 770 owner and I used my teaching/go to class BERNINA 350. We had a fun day making this and it's a fantastic size for a summer cross body. I recommend to all to try her patterns if you are into bag making!
As you are reading this post I am on my way to Quilt Canada in Halifax. I'll show some sneak peaks of 1) My Trendtex Challenge Quilt & 2) my demos for BERNINA of Canada. If you are at Quilt Canada, come on over to see my demo at 10:00 am Friday and Saturday at the BERNINA Canada booth to see what I am up to.!

Just showin' & sharin' my last quilt for the month of February & #6 for 2023- A modern log cabin customer quilt. Quilted on my amazing BERNINA Q20 Long Arm with a Bauhaus panto design. Out like a lamb! Lets hope March is good to us and is not a "LION". grrr that won't be good. Happy Tuesday!
I've made it kind of a rule not to do custom quilts from scratch quilts ie. design to completion. They are so labour intensive! However this next quilt I'm talking about today was a "special circumstance" quilt where I just could not say no. My customer had a Mary Poppins panel and really wanted it made for her granddaughter & felt she 1) did not understand how to convert this small panel into a twin sized quilt and 2) needed someone else to design & make it for personal reasons. So I'll discuss my process first. I got the dimensions of the panel over the phone & found a pic of the panel online and then took the dimensions and plugged it into EQ8 (Electric Quilt 8) Quilt Design Software. The design I came up with is below. You will notice flowers in the borders in black (daisy like) these are to dress up the rather large borders. I also have an excellent quilting pattern in mind. I explained all of this to my customer and she approved of it. Some up close pics of the quilting "Daisies Galore" & appliqued daisies is shown below. The daisies were designed & drawn out, fused with heat-n-bond and zig zag stitched with a small stitch width & length & matching thread. These daisies match the daisies on Mary's dress and create interest in the border. It turned out that while still labour intensive, this quilt was fun to make and the colours speak to me as joyful. The quilting made the borders look almost as if they have a veil of lace daisies, the appliques & the variable binding helped to tie in the colours. I am really happy with the results and hoping my customer will be too!
