As you are reading this post I am on my way to Quilt Canada in Halifax. I'll show some sneak peaks of 1) My Trendtex Challenge Quilt & 2) my demos for BERNINA of Canada. On Tuesday May 30th I was teaching "Next Steps in Free Motion Quilting" at Creekbank Sewing in Mountforest. This class is for all all makes & models of domestic machines & BERNINA Q series long arm owners. If you are shop hopping in the area this summer, stop by and inquire about their great classes (&/or sign up for one of mine, hint, hint!), There are also some great classes coming up in the fall along with a new and improved shop being built right now. We covered all kinds of free motion topics in the class including but not limited to geometric quilting, easy marking on quilts, cursive writing, swirly style filll quilting, grid quilting, pebbling , tear drops, butterflies, flowers, organic quilting, double needle quilting and so much more! Quilt #9 for 2023 is the below beautiful traditional appliqué quilt pieced lovingly by my customer and long arm quilted by yours truly on my BERNINA Q20 Long Arm. I designed it for layout in Electric Quilt, straight line, feathered and meander stitched, added the binding and it turned out awesome. Th'e customer quilt shown below was long arm quilted on my BERNINA Q20 with many thread colour changes . The quilt is heavily quilted with stitch in the ditch , straight line & circular ruler work . Today if the last day of the tutorial all about recovering a lampshade with Mont Marte fabric paints at www.quiltsocial.com. I'll be discussing how I outlined each of the designs on the lampshade with free motion stitching. The free motion stitching really makes the floral designs come to life.
